Make the joke usable without hiding what kind of room it belongs in.
How the library handles clean humor, sensitive topics, duplicates and context.
Clean collections
Clean pages exclude explicit sexual material, graphic violence and profanity-heavy jokes. Removing one explicit word does not make an adult premise suitable for every audience.
Children and classrooms
Kids material uses straightforward vocabulary and avoids sexual content, cruelty, hateful stereotypes and frightening graphic detail.
Sensitive subjects
Medical, relationship, work and identity-related jokes should focus on situations or language rather than degrading people for traits they cannot control.
Duplicates and near-duplicates
Minor punctuation or wording changes do not make a joke new. Substantially repeated material should be merged or improved rather than counted twice.
